Pondering some tough flex choices for your fantasy lineup? Adam Rank sorts through the running backs, receivers and tight ends to present his top 150 flex options each week for the 2024 fantasy football season, with some useful nuggets of analysis sprinkled in. • (Q) -- Player is listed as questionable on his team's official injury report.
  • (D) -- Player is listed as doubtful on his team's official injury report.
  • (O) -- Player has been ruled out on his team's official injury report.

The Chiefs' offense is efficient. They do what it takes to win games. The times when Kansas City would win shootouts are long gone. They are doing what a lot of great dynasties have done. Even Tom Brady wasn't the best fantasy quarterback for long stretches when the Patriots played a ball-control offense and leaned on their defense. We're seeing that right now with Patrick Mahomes as he comes off another disappointing game from a fantasy perspective (13.44 points; QB18 in Week 5). I know you didn't come here for quarterback talk, but it's impacting a lot of the receivers and ball-carriers for the Chiefs. But Xavier Worthy should probably be started in leagues as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3, at worst, when the team returns in Week 7 after a bye this week. I'll take the risk, knowing that we're getting a home run hitter who is just as likely to have 25 points as he is six. And hey, I lost a game by .10 points this week because I started Chris Olave, who scored three points. There are no guarantees in anything.

On to the rest of the notes ...

  • Well, maybe Ja’Marr Chase is the exception to my theory about guarantees. He had 12 targets and ended up with a season-high 41.3 fantasy points against the Ravens. Tee Higgins was almost as good, with 29.3 points on 14 targets.
  • Breece Hall has had fewer than seven fantasy points in back-to-back games. But the Jets -- with interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich replacing Robert Saleh -- host the Bills this week. Buffalo has allowed the most targets, receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns to running backs this season. It's going to be Breece Hall SZN.
  • DJ Moore seems to have established some chemistry with Caleb Williams. You saw the duo working through it a few weeks ago. It's starting to click now. I know Moore had a "race to 1,000" yards thing with Keenan Allen, but it's clear Moore is going to win. He leads the team in targets, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He has three TDs in his last two games. I'm telling you, Chicago has a quarterback. Most Bears fans are coming around to that line of thinking. Even the holdouts who wanted to keep Justin Fields.
  • Jayden Reed is the only top-five fantasy receiver with a team target share of less than 20 percent. But he's been great when Jordan Love is healthy. By the way, can we acknowledge how great Matt LaFleur is as a head coach?
  • Garrett Wilson finally had the game we've all been waiting to see from him. And it only took 22 targets. That's right, he had 22 targets, which is a crazy number. It's tied for the fifth-most targets in a game since we started tracking targets in 1992. Garrett also has two touchdowns in his last three games. He had one in the previous 17.
  • We will keep an eye out for Nico Collins, who is week-to-week after injuring his hamstring against the Bills. Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell take a step up this week with Collins' status in question. I'm starting to worry about C.J. Stroud. All of my struggling fantasy teams have Stroud at QB.
  • Jauan Jennings was a fun story for a couple weeks. But the 49ers are getting healthy now. Brandon Aiyuk is the go-to guy as long as he isn't being shadowed by an elite corner.
  • D’Andre Swift has 49.5 fantasy points in the last two weeks, second-most among running backs in that span. The Bears have settled into a rotation with Swift as the top guy and Roschon Johnson as the short-yardage back. I know there are a lot of Khalil Herbert fans out there, including me, but he's the third-string RB right now.
  • Brian Thomas Jr. is a must-start option, even with a tough matchup this week against the Bears. Chicago has one of the best defenses in the league, but they still give up their share of yards. You can start Thomas, Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby this week. Not all of them are going to pop. One of them will, though. Bigsby had 13 rushing attempts on Sunday, while Etienne -- who is dealing with a shoulder injury -- had six.

  • It seems like Bucky Irving is so close to taking over the backfield in Tampa Bay. Or at least that is what I would like to pretend. Odds are it's going to be a full-blown time share between Irving and Rachaad White.
  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba has 13-plus fantasy points in three of his five games this season. He leads the Seahawks with 29 receptions.
  • Reminder: The Lions are back from a bye this week. Sam LaPorta has a tough matchup against the Cowboys. I'm not scared off, however. Dallas' defense did a nice job against the Steelers, but I'm still firing up Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery on my fantasy teams.
  • Josh Downs had a career-high nine receptions on 12 targets in Week 5. We've been trying to figure out which Colts receiver to roster (other than Michael Pittman Jr.). My conjecture is Downs, whether it's Anthony Richardson or Joe Flacco at quarterback. Which, can we talk about Flacco for a second? He was out there on Sunday proving once again that he is elite -- down in Jacksonville, home of All Elite Wrestling.
  • I'm not ready to bail on Dontayvion Wicks just yet, especially with Romeo Doubs coming off a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. I can't blame Wicks because I'm the one who started him over Rashid Shaheed this week, which cost me.
  • Tucker Kraft is someone to keep an eye on, especially with so few quality options at tight end in fantasy. He has three touchdowns in the last two weeks.
  • It's time to start taking Jalen Tolbert seriously. He's scored 13-plus fantasy points in three of the last four games.

  • Ja’Lynn Polk has 13 targets over the last two weeks after having six in his first three games. He would have had a big game on Sunday if his TD catch in the final minutes had stood, but the ruling was reversed after review.
