Colts QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) to start Sunday vs. Dolphins after two-game absence

After missing 11 quarters of football, Anthony Richardson is slated to return in Week 7.

The Colts will start Richardson versus the Miami Dolphins this weekend, coach Shane Steichen told reporters Friday.

Richardson regains his starting job after spending the last two games on the sideline due to a hip injury sustained in the Colts' Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, prompting Indianapolis to turn to veteran Joe Flacco. The 39-year-old thrived in place of Richardson, leading the Colts to two wins in three weeks and throwing for 359 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-34 loss to Jacksonville.

As Flacco returns to the bench, running back Jonathan Taylor will remain there for at least another week. His ankle injury will prevent him from playing against Miami, per Steichen.

Richardson will resume his 2024 season with the likes of Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson sharing Taylor's duties in the backfield. We'll see how much the Colts choose to lean on Richardson in the running game after a couple of weeks off.
