Cowboys' Micah Parsons (ankle) officially out vs. Steelers, will miss first career game due to injury

For the first time since he buckled up a chin strap, Micah Parsons will miss a football game due to injury.

Parsons is officially out for his Dallas Cowboys' Sunday night matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Parsons suffered a high ankle sprain in a Week 4 win over the New York Giants. Through four games, Parsons has produced 14 tackles, a sack and a team-high six QB hits.

The Penn State product, who was taken 12th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Cowboys, has never previously missed a game due to an injury at any level of football. Parsons did not play in Week 18 of his rookie campaign due to COVID-19.

While it's an unfortunate career marker for Parsons, it's also a major loss for the Cowboys.

Dallas' defense has already been lackluster to the tune of being ranked 27th in points allowed so far. Now it will have to contend with the Steelers sans Parsons and defensive end Demarcus Lawrence, who was placed on injured reserve this week with a foot injury. Fellow star defender Trevon Diggs didn't practice Friday and is questionable to play vs. the Steelers with an ankle injury.

Just how long Parsons, who was considered week to week, is on the mend and out of the lineup remains to be seen.

For now, the Cowboys (2-2) will face off with the Steelers (3-1) on Sunday night minus their two-time All-Pro.
