Darron Lee, N.Y. Jets' first-round pick, signs contract

Only two unsigned first-round draft picks remain.

Linebacker Darron Lee, the No. 20 pick in the 2016 draft, inked a deal with the Jets on Wednesday, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. ESPN first reported the pact. The team confirmed the signing later that day.

Lee arrived in New Jersey on Wednesday, according to an NJ.com report, which ended a summer of uncertainty for the Jets on defense.

Having the ink dry on Lee's contract could be good news for the 49ers (Joshua Garnett) and Chargers (Joey Bosa), the remaining unsinged first-round picks. All three prospects are represented by agents working for the Creative Artists Agency, which had seven total players drafted in the first round.

Lee had the support of his new teammates during his time away but faces an uphill challenge upon his return. The Jets have veteran experience across their linebacking corps, with David Harris and Erin Henderson leading the way.
