DeAndre Hopkins says in since-deleted post he intends to play in 2025 season: 'I'm not done yet'

DeAndre Hopkins isn't ready to call it a career just yet.

The veteran Chiefs wide receiver took to social media on Tuesday to address apparent whispers of his 12-year career coming to an end.

"Don't know what you heard but I'm not done yet," Hopkins said in a since-deleted post.

Hopkins, the NFL's active leader in receiving yards (12,965), intends to play in 2025, but where that will be remains the only question.

The 32-year-old joined Kansas City in 2024 following a midseason trade from Tennessee. In 10 regular-season games with the Chiefs, Hopkins overcame an initial slow start as he was coming off an injury and generated 41 receptions for 437 yards and four touchdowns.

Hopkins' production waned during the road toward Super Bowl LIX, going catch-less in the Divisional Round and having just one reception for 11 yards in the AFC Championship Game. That continued in the first half of Super Bowl LIX, where he was held reception-less and dropped a would-be first down as the Eagles gained a massive lead. He eventually found the end zone during the Chiefs' unlikely comeback, finishing with two catches for 18 yards and the score in what was his first Super Bowl appearance.

"It's a loss," Hopkins said after Sunday's defeat. "I feel the same after every loss, but obviously this one has a little bit more meaning -- the Super Bowl -- I feel bad."

Despite having a career-worst season in 2024 (minimum 16 games played), Hopkins figures to be a useful piece for a contending team looking to add a veteran presence at wideout.

Perhaps a return to Houston could be in play for Hopkins following a Texans season that was hamstrung by injuries to their WR corps. Veterans Stefon Diggs and Robert Woods are facing free agency, and the Texans' young stud wideout, Tank Dell, is entering a long recovery road following the significant knee injury he suffered late in the season.

Hopkins is second on the Texans' all-time receiving list in receptions (632), receiving yards (8,602) and receiving TDs (54), trailing Hall of Famer Andre Johnson in all categories.
