In what is likely Week 13's most anticipated matchup, the Philadelphia Eagles will be without DeVonta Smith yet again.
Smith is inactive for the Eagles' Sunday afternoon showdown against the Baltimore Ravens and will miss his second straight game and third of the season, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported. The team later announced the news.
The fourth-year pro injured his hamstring during a Thursday night win over the Washington Commanders on Nov. 14 and subsequently missed a Week 12 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
Smith returned to practice on Thanksgiving in a limited capacity, a designation matched on Friday before he was pronounced questionable for the game. However, the Eagles have determined he's not yet ready to return to action. They're 1-1 this season without Smith, having lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sans him. That game preceded the team's current seven-game winning streak.
The 26-year-old has missed two games this season but leads the Eagles with 41 receptions and is tied with A.J. Brown for the team high in touchdown receptions (four). He's also posted 516 receiving yards.
Much of the expectation for Sunday's showdown revolves around the running game, with Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry opposing Philly QB Jalen Hurts and RB Saquon Barkley.
With Smith yet again grounded and Brown once more the clear top target for Hurts, the Eagles' running game will likely be emphasized all the more.
The Eagles (9-2) kick off the battle of the birds against the host Ravens (8-4) at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
