NFL GameDay Morning, the first information-packed pregame show from the only network dedicated entirely to football, features exclusive sit-down interviews with the Jets new QB Brett Favre and General Manager Mike Tannenbaum on NFL Network Sunday, September 14 at 10 AM ET.
NFL Network analyst Steve Mariucci sat down this week with Favre to discuss his transition to New York, his first regular season game with the Jets and facing the Patriots without Tom Brady. Mariucci also interviewed Tannenbaum to get the inside story on how they were able to acquire the future Hall of Fame quarterback from Green Bay.
Here is a sample of quotes from the interviews that will be seen in their entirety on NFL GameDay Morning:
"The day I retired, I knew that I was going have second thoughts because I was already having them." –- Brett Favre on when he knew he wanted to play again.
"It was an odd situation. We're going for it and I'm thinking 'We don't have a chance in hell. Make sure you throw it up and give someone a chance to catch it.' That's all I was thinking about." –- Favre on his fourth-down touchdown pass against the Dolphins last week.
"He played extremely well. (Aaron Rodgers) played well under a lot of pressure, but I'm not surprised by it. ... He's got tremendous talent. He watched and learned from me, and that's good and bad." -- Favre on his replacement in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers.
"I would love that. I wouldn't pull for the Packers in that one." – Favre when asked about a possible Super Bowl match up between the New York Jets and Green Bay.
"We have a lot of good people here. We have a good football team. ...You'll fit in really well and you'll be hunting in 15 minutes." -- Mike Tannenbaum on his pitch to Favre to convince him to play for the Jets.
"You have a plan, but when unexpected opportunities present themselves, I think you have to act quickly and aggressively if it makes sense for your team." –- Tannenbaum on the Jets pursuing a trade for Favre.
Warren Sapp, Marshall Faulk, Adam Schefter, Lindsay Soto and host Spero Dedes bring fans the latest news, injury reports, pregame analysis and game previews. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is the featured head coach for a game-day interview this week on NFL GameDay Morning.
