Fines: Santana Moss docked $22,050 for outburst

Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss is about to pay for his outburst toward an official in Sunday's 24-13 loss to the New York Giants.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Moss was fined $22,050 for abusive and insulting language toward a referee. The veteran wideout confronted game officials after a touchdown run by Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was reviewed and ruled a fumble and touchback on the final play of the half.

Moss was thrown out of the game for what referee Jeff Triplette described as "very, very inappropriate language that was derogatory towards the official," according to Newsday's Tom Rock.

The ugliness of this Redskins season -- it just won't quit.

Other fines we're tracking ahead of Week 16:

  1. Rapoport was told that Browns linebacker Barkevious Mingo was fined $16,537 for hitting quarterback Andy Dalton in the head and neck during Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Bengals. We weren't aware that Cleveland made a tackle in that game.
  1. The league confirmed to Around the NFL that Titans defensive tackle Jurrell Casey was fined $8,268 for punching Jets passer Geno Smith in the head.
