Free-agent quarterback Byron Leftwich was traveling to Atlanta on Monday night for a visit with Falcons officials.
Up until now, the Falcons have balked at the idea of brining in Leftwich but after watching their offense struggle during the season's first two weeks, Atlanta decided to bring in the former Jaguars quarterback. The Falcons would not be bringing in Leftwich if they were not serious about adding him to their roster.
Interestingly, Atlanta's most recent offensive woes against Leftwich's former team might have been the last push Falcons general manager Rich McKay and head coach Bobby Petrino needed to begin making their next move at quarterback.
Leftwich has been waiting to sign with another team since Jacksonville released him the week before the season opener. Baltimore explored the possibility of signing leftwich but opted to re-sign Kyle Boller to an extension instead.
