So you went through your fantasy football draft. You made a trade or two, picked up a guy off the waiver wire. But then before everything went live ... something didn't feel right. Maybe you had a player who was a game-time decision. Or there was a match up that wasn't in your favor. Whatever the reason, you decided it was time to make a bold choice. You know what they say ... No Guts, No Glory. So this column is for you. Every week here, we'll salute the outside-the-box thinking that was rewarded with big fantasy production. Fortune favors the bold, so here's to you. We sent out the call early Monday morning, and here's what you came back with. Congratulations to those of you who are looking at a Week 16 win!
With LeSean McCoy out, Buffalo's backfield was left in the hands of Karlos Williams and Mike Gillislee. Williams had more touches (19) than Gillislee (11) but the latter did much more with his opportunities than the former. Gillislee's 109 total yards and a touchdown against Dallas was enough for him to finish as a top 10 fantasy running back by the end of Sunday's action. Considering the fact that he's owned in only 1.9 percent of NFL.com leagues, Gillislee was one of the gutsier plays of the week. Granted, it was against a great matchup with a Cowboys defense that can't stop the run, but based on William's success earlier in the year it did take some gusto to grab Gillislee and start him in what was a must-win situation for fantasy owners.
The Inconvenient Truth has done it again. His two touchdowns and 95 total yards on Sunday were enough for 21.5 fantasy points as he became one of only four running backs to post over 20 fantasy points in Week 16. The Colts offense leaned on the veteran runner with injury issues at quarterback leaving Gore to take advantage of Miami's poor run defense. His performance likely won your week for you if he you had enough guts to start him. But we wouldn't blame you for benching him considering he had scored just once dating back to Week 9.
