Injury roundup: Browns TE David Njoku (ankle) expected to play vs. Commanders

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (ankle) is expected to play versus the Washington Commanders, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources. Njoku is officially active for Sunday.

Njoku, who last played since Week 1, was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Friday. However, the Browns tight end did not participate in Thursday's practice. He was officially listed as questionable for Week 5.

After missing the last three games, veteran Jordan Akins started in place of the injured Njoku. Cleveland is set to have Njoku inserted into the lineup for the first time since the season opener.

In the Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys, Njoku recorded four catches for 44 yards.

Cleveland ruled out running back Nick Chubb (knee), Nyheim Hines (knee), offensive tackle James Hudson, defensive end Alex Wright (triceps) and linebacker Jordan Hicks (ribs/elbow/triceps) for Sunday's contest.

The Browns (1-3) and Commanders (3-1) kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
