It's up and it's good: Dolphins kicker Carpenter signs extension

The Miami Dolphins have signed Pro Bowl kicker Dan Carpenter to a three-year, $6.205 million contract extension, The Palm Beach Postreported Tuesday night, citing NFL Players Association records.

Carpenter, a third-year pro from Montana, has made 46 of 53 field-goal attempts (86.8 percent) in his career, including eight of nine from longer than 40 yards. He was elected to his first Pro Bowl last season.

Carpenter will make $470,000 this season before the new deal kicks in during 2011.
