Ladarius Green's 2016 season was delayed by persistent headaches and ended prematurely due to another in a string of concussions.
While Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisbergerplans to contemplate retirement this offseason, his tight end is not ready to follow suit.
Green insists he's not concerned with the short- or long-term effects of his concussions, which number at least four since the start of the 2014 season.
"I talked to all the doctors. They reassured me of that," Green explained Monday, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'm not too worried about that. I'm not focusing on that right now.
"I was able to play, show a little what I can do. I just hope it gets a lot better from there."
Signed to a four-year, $20 million contract in March, Green was expected to fill Heath Miller's rather sizable shoes in the Steelers' aerial attack. After starting the season on the physically unable to perform list, he ended up playing just six games, recording 304 yards and a touchdown on 18 receptions.
"It was very frustrating," Green said of sitting out the AFC Championship Game. "Once I got going in the middle of the season, I was excited, I was happy to be out there. You can't plan stuff like that. I just had a setback. A frustrating season, but everybody has one. I hope this is the only one I have."
