Michael Gallup's long been viewed as the Cowboys' No. 3 wide receiver, but he's returning to Dallas on a deal that will pay him as a No. 1.
Gallup and the Cowboys have agreed to terms on a five-year deal with a max value of $62.5 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported Sunday.
Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the contract includes a $10 million signing bonus and $23 million fully guaranteed at signing. Gallup will receive $4 million guaranteed for injury in 2024. Incentives in 2024 and '25 can push the value of the pact, which initially sits at $57.5 million, to $62.5 million.
Just a day after the Cowboys agreed to trade wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns, Gallup is re-upping with Dallas to stabilize a receiving corps led by CeeDee Lamb.
Gallup's deal puts him at No. 14 among receivers for total value and tied for 22nd on a yearly basis, per Over the Cap.
Just 26, Gallup is one of only two Cowboys receivers in franchise history to record 65-plus catches, 1,000-plus yards and five TDs in a single season at age 23 or younger, per NFL Research. The other is Lamb and Sunday's agreement leans to the Cowboys' focus on building up their young talent.
Gallup was limited to nine games in 2021 -- 35 catches for 445 yards and two touchdowns -- as his season was ended by an ACL tear. With the Cowboys inking Gallup to such a large deal, it's clear they're confident he'll return healthy.
And so with free agency looming, the Cowboys have started to sort out their WR plans with Cooper departing and Gallup back with a big contract in tow.
