Monday Nightmare: Fantasy dreams fumbled away

Congratulations to all of you who earned fantasy championships over the weekend. Consider it a job well done, and you should all be proud. It took a lot of hard work, many hours enduring James Koh and I do our Danger Zone picks, and possibly a little luck too. So congratulations.

I want to talk to the rest of you.

Those of you who started Cam Newton. Those of you who started a Steelers stack (that was me). Those of you who drafted Eddie Lacy and never recovered. You are my people.

I'll give you one bad defeat story before we proceed. I had a pretty decent team in my League of Record (the league you care about the most). I lost brutally in the opening round. Actually, it goes back to Week 13, when I beat the eventual champ handily, but I didn't get the first-round bye because he had the most points in your league. I had the third-highest points, but ended up as the No. 3 seed. I lost the opening round by fractional points.

And then I did the thing you should never do. I checked to see how my team would have done the rest of the way. Yeah. Let's just say my team scored 175 points in a standard 10-team league, and one of my RB spots was open because I still had Thomas Rawls in my lineup. (Yeah, that was the week I lost.) But congratulations to former University of Washington standout WR (and teammate of Joel McHale) for winning his second consecutive championship. He's probably the best fantasy player in our league, but has never won until last year. The fantasy world corrects itself sometimes.

All right, enough about me. Let's get to you.

But congratulations to a fellow Bears fan!

That might be the worst.

Ugh.

I love people who compete hard through all of the brackets. I didn't do it in my League of Record because I'm super (expletive).

Take us home, Packer Girl 9.

Actually, one last shout-out to Momma Dina who participates in my Paul's Boutique league. It's a league that was initially made up of fans, but all have become friends. We had a live in-person draft for the first time this season. More than half of the league was in attendance. Our only no-shows were international folks (as expected).

In any event, we had a nice league this year. Props to our man Bobby L. who won the title this year. For the second consecutive year, I might add. But I want to give Dina some credit for competing hard, all the way through the 11th-place game.

We do a lot of this for pride (a lot of you for money). But I wanted to recognize the spirit of a young lady who would never say die the entire season even though she suffered a litany of Monday Nightmares. A great team that was robbed each and every week. So well done, Dina and to everybody in Paul's Boutique.

Condolences to Larry who is going to be relegated to our "b" league.

For the record, you can submit your fantasy questions to NFL Fantasy Live or me on Twitter. But realize, NFL Fantasy Live has 300K followers. Me? Just 14. See, the odds are better I will answer your question, so hit me up both via Twitter or via Facebook (if you're RG3). And if you follow me on Sundays, I'll quote "The Wolf" from "Pulp Fiction" and then it's game on! Although, it's tough to catch me on Facebook. Twitter is your go-to." Plus seriously people, I'm not taking your tweets after Midnight. I'm into the #HashtagWars via @Midnight. I've started to mute people who ask me questions at that time.
