  • QB Josh Allen and the first team will play in Buffalo's preseason opener against Chicago on Saturday, coach Sean McDermott told reporters.

  • WR Mack Hollins is not practicing as he deals with a leg injury.

  • DB Caden Sterns was waived with a failed physical designation.

SIGNINGS

  • DT Carlos Davis, twin brother of Texans DT Khalil Davis, is signing with Cincinnati, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. The team later announced Davis' signing.

INJURIES

  • WR Jayden Reed (calf) missed practice Wednesday but there is no long-term concern about the injury, per head coach Matt LaFleur. Reed returned to practice Thursday, per local reporters.
  • WR Christian Watson is doing well after a "scare" in which he got hit on his knee Wednesday, per LaFleur. Watson returned to practice Thursday, per local reporters.

  • QB Trevor Lawrence will play in Jacksonville's preseason opener against Kansas City on Saturday, coach Doug Pederson said.

  • DL De'Shaan Dixon will miss the 2024 season after suffering a torn ACL in practice, Pederson told reporters.

SIGNINGS

  • LB Pete Werner is signing a three-year, $25 million contract extension with $17.5 million guaranteed, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

  • QB Aaron Rodgers was held out of Thursday's joint practice with the Commanders due to weather conditions, head coach Robert Saleh told local reporters.

RETIREMENTS

  • QB Nick Foles, who won Super Bowl LII Most Valuable Player with Philadelphia after starting the final three regular-season games for an injured Carson Wentz and leading the team on a playoff run, announced his retirement on Thursday following 11 NFL seasons. Foles will retire as a member of the Eagles organization.
