Patriots' McCourty out 2-3 weeks with separated shoulder

Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty suffered a separated shoulder in the club's 37-16 win over the Jets on Sunday night, reported NFL Network's Albert Breer.

McCourty, who is the best cover corner in a New England secondary that has struggled most of the season, is expected to miss 2-3 weeks witha Grade 2 separation, Breer reported, citing a league source. The damage is to the AC joint, and there is no break or dislocation.

McCourty, a second-year player, had 59 tackles this season before suffering the injury. Even after the solid outing against the Jets Sunday night, the Patriots still rank 32nd in the NFL in pass defense.
