Quarterbacks Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles and Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys were among 17 players added to the Pro Bowl rosters Monday, replacing those who either couldn't attend because of injuries or their teams reaching the Super Bowl.
The 2010 Pro Bowl will be held at Miami's Sun Life Stadium this Sunday, one week before the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts meet on the same field in Super Bowl XLIV. Players from the Super Bowl teams are ineligible for the Pro Bowl and must be replaced.
Substituting for the seven Saints players on the NFC Pro Bowl roster are McNabb (for Drew Brees), New York Giants offensive tackle David Diehl (for Jonathan Stinchcomb), Giants guard Chris Snee (for Jahri Evans), Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil (for Jonathan Goodwin), Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher (for Jonathan Vilma), Arizona Cardinals free safety Antrel Rolle (for Darren Sharper) and Eagles strong safety Quintin Mikell (for Roman Harper).
Substituting for the seven Colts players on the AFC Pro Bowl roster are Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard (for Peyton Manning), San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson (for Reggie Wayne), Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller (for Dallas Clark), Tennessee Titans center Kevin Mawae (for Jeff Saturday), Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch (for Dwight Freeney), New York Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis (for Robert Mathis) and Dolphins strong safety Yeremiah Bell (for Antoine Bethea).
Three players from the Minnesota Vikings, who lost to the Saints in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, pulled out of the Pro Bowl because of various ailments. Quarterback Brett Favre (ankle), cornerback Antoine Winfield (foot) and kick returner Percy Harvin (migraine headaches) all can't play with their injuries.
Romo replaced Favre, and Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins took Winfield's place. Chicago Bears rookie Johnny Knox took over the NFC's kick-returner spot from Harvin.
