Quick Take: Redskins fend off Eagles

It was over when ...
Redskins rookie safety LaRon Landry seperated Eagles receiver Kevin Curtis from the ball with a solid hit as the ball arrived. The fourth-down incompletion at the 5-yard-line gave the ball back to Washington, which then went into the victory formation and kneeled a pair of times to end the game.

Game balls
Second-year linebacker Rocky McIntosh did not see the field much in his rookie season, but he gained accolades for his development in the offseason and showed why, badgering Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb all night and collecting nine tackles and a sack. While he was not given too much of an opportunity in the running game, Philadelphia's Brian Westbrook still had a magnificent game, accounting for 162 total yards on 25 touches (17 rushes, eight receptions).

Key stat
Washington converted 8-of-15 third-down conversions, enabling it to extend drives and score, while the Eagles only delivered on 4-of-16 third-down attempts.

Noteworthy
Eagles safety Brian Dawkins left the game with a neck injury in the fourth quarter after making a tackle on the Redskins' Todd Yoder. Washington also lost offensive guard Randy Thomas to a torn triceps in the first half.
