Ryan Mallett works out with Baltimore Ravens

The league hasn't given up on Ryan Mallett. Not yet.

The Ravensannounced that they worked out the former Texans and Patriots quarterback  on Wednesday.

Mallett was released by the Texans in October after missing the team's charter flight to Miami for a Week 7 game with the Dolphins. Before his release, Mallett went 1-3 as a starter for Houston in 2015, throwing just three touchdowns to four picks with a 63.6 passer rating.

Prior to the air-travel debacle, Mallett irritated the Texans by showing up late for a training camp practice after claiming that his alarm clock broke. His skittish on-field accuracy was equally annoying.

The Ravens, though, need support under center with the highly inefficient Matt Schaub lodged as the starter after Joe Flacco was lost for the year with a torn ACL and MCL. Baltimore also has Jimmy Clausen under contract.

Mallett was bound to get another look because of a cannon arm that turns teams on. Whether or not he can handle the job of being an NFL quarterback -- or get that alarm clock fixed -- is another story.
