Seattle signs CB Cox from practice squad to take Branch's spot

RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks have signed cornerback Kennard Cox to the active roster, filling the opening left when wide receiver Deion Branch was traded to the New England Patriots.

Cox was signed on Tuesday, a day after Branch was sent back to his original NFL team in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. Cox previously spent two seasons in Jacksonville before joining the Seahawks' practice squad. Cox was released by Seattle on Sept. 14, then was signed back to the practice squad two days later.

The Seahawks also signed receiver Patrick Williams, who was with Green Bay during the preseason but was among the Packers' final roster cuts, to the practice squad.
