ST. LOUIS -- One of the casualties of the St. Louis Rams' 1-7 start could be center Jason Brown's streak of 84 consecutive starts.
Brown doesn't expect to be in the starting lineup on Sunday at Cleveland, with Tony Wragge getting the nod instead. Brown said Wednesday coaches told him they were making a change, but didn't give any reasons.
The offensive line has been effective lately in the run game, helping Steven Jackson post consecutive 100-yard games. But the Rams are next-to-last in scoring at 12.5 points per game and the passing offense is near the bottom of the NFL.
Wragge signed with St. Louis before the opener after being released by the San Francisco 49ers and has been a reserve in six games.
Quarterback Sam Bradford believes mental letdowns are to blame for puny production, especially in the red zone. He once thought it might have been new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels' system, but not now.
"At this point, I think to use that as an excuse or reason for our struggles, I don't think that's right," Bradford said Wednesday. "As much as I hate to say that, I think it's a lack of concentration once we get down there. Some of the mistakes that we do make down there, there's no reason for them, and we've got to find a way to eliminate those."
Bradford is still wearing a brace after missing two games with a high ankle sprain, but said his ankle "definitely" feels better than last week at this time, and he ditched the walking boot the day after Sunday's game, when he returned in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Barring further injury, he expects the ankle to be healed in two or three weeks.
