Injury roundup: Cowboys LB Micah Parsons (illness) expected to play vs. Buccaneers

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons (illness) is expected to play in the Sunday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources.

Parsons popped up on the injury report on Friday with an illness. He did not participate in Friday's practice and Dallas listed the three-time Pro Bowler as questionable for Week 16.

The 12th overall pick from the 2021 draft has been one of the bright spots in a tough season for a Cowboys team that has been dealing with injuries to key players. The two-time All-Pro linebacker missed four games earlier this season due to high ankle sprain in Week 4. This week, Parsons told reporters that he'd like to sign a long-term extension before free agency kicks off in March.

This season, Parsons has 19 QB hits, 8.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss in 10 games.

Meanwhile, Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton (knee) was ruled out for Sunday's contest.

The Cowboys (6-8) and Buccaneers (8-6) kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET.

Other injuries we are keeping an eye on ahead of Sunday's Week 16 games:

  • Arizona Cardinals center Hjalte Froholdt (illness) was added to the injury report and is questionable to play vs. the Panthers. He has since been announced as active.
  • Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jalen Coker (quad) is expected to play versus the Cardinals, Rapoport reported. Center Cade Mays (illness) was added to the injury report and is questionable to play. Coker is officially active, but Mays is inactive.
  • Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston (shoulder) is expected to be the team's third (emergency) QB versus the Bengals, Rapoport reported. Second-year QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson will get the start in Cincinnati, and Bailey Zappe will be the backup.
  • New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (ankle) is expected to play against the Falcons, Rapoport reported.
  • New York Jets running back Braelon Allen (back) is expected to play versus the Rams, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo and Rapoport reported. Allen is active. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (hamstring) is inactive after being deemed a true game-time decision.
  • Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis (right shoulder) is expected to be the backup to Mason Rudolph in Sunday's game versus the Colts, Rapoport reported. Running back Tony Pollard (ankle) is expected to play. Pollard is officially active.
  • Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz (concussion/shoulder) is trending toward playing versus the Eagles, Rapoport reported. Ertz is officially active.
