Next Gen Stats: Championship Sunday
Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger have led their teams to the cusp of the Super Bowl. See the numbers behind their success.

Over the last two seasons, Aaron Rodgers has executed some of the most memorable and clutch performances in recent memory. Since 2015, Rodgers has attempted a 30+ air yard pass in five games in which the score was either tied or the Packers were within 1 score. In four of those games, Rodgers completed his 30+ air yard attempts, including one on a Hail Mary to win the game, two to set up game-winning field goals (including last weekend's completion to TE Jared Cook) and another on a Hail Mary to send the game into overtime.

In his last meeting against the Falcons, Rodgers had an average time to throw of 2.90 seconds. The Falcons rarely had any pressure on Rodgers as their nearest pass rusher had only an average of 3.5 yards of separation from Rodgers at his time to pass. In addition, Packers RT Bryan Bulaga was able to stymie Falcons Pro Bowl OLB Vic Beasley, holding him to only 6.0 yards of separation from Rodgers when he released the ball. Due to this higher separation and ability to time his throw, Rodgers threw all 4 of his touchdown passes in Week 8 vs. Atlanta when his time to throw was greater than 2.50 seconds.

Falcons QB and MVP Candidate Matt Ryan has been nearly impeccable through the air this year, especially on deep passes (20+ extended air yards). Ryan accrued a league-leading 136.1 passer rating on deep passes this regular season, throwing 11 of his 38 touchdowns on those passes. This week against the Packers, Ryan should continue to find success on deep passes as Green Bay has allowed the 8th-highest passer rating to opposing quarterbacks on deep passes - 94.5 vs the 81.9 NFL average. The Packers have been beaten on deep passes all year, giving up a league-worst 15 TDs on those passes (next closest is the Cleveland Browns with 11).

Although Matt Ryan's deep pass success could dismantle a struggling Packers defense, one promising member of the Packers, especially in the postseason, has been Packers safety Micah Hyde. Hyde has come up big in pass coverage for Green Bay, allowing a passer rating of only 45.7 since their postseason started with the Wild Card game against the New York Giants.

When the Packers and Falcons last met in Week 8, Julio Jones was limited to just 3 catches for 29 yards, his 2nd-lowest yardage output of the season. Jones' receiving struggles could be attributed to the stellar play of Packers CB LaDarius Gunter in that game. Gunter followed Jones on 22 of his 30 pass plays and was able to limit him throughout the field. Jones was allowed an average of only 1.6 yards of separation on his 5 targets, his 2nd-lowest separation of the season.

In their meeting in Week 7, the Pittsburgh Steelers chose to not blitz Patriots QB Tom Brady on any pass plays in that contest. Brady went 19-26 for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns, amounting to a 124.2 passer rating. Following that game, the Steelers nearly doubled their blitz percentage. Their 15 sacks when blitzing was the most in the league since Week 8.
However, Brady was nearly equally effective whether facing a blitz (115.6 passer rating) or against no blitz (111.2 rating) during the regular season.

Le'Veon Bell's patience has been paying off in the postseason. Bell's 3.03 seconds behind the line of scrimmage ranks first in the league among running backs with 100 or more 1+ yard carries, as he waits for his offensive line to set up their blocking matchups, sometimes even stopping entirely before bursting through a hole. During weeks 4-10, Bell had 32 carries of 5 or more yards, with an average of 2.81 seconds spent behind the LOS on those carries. Since Week 11, he's had 101 such carries and increased his time behind the LOS to 3.00 seconds.

For the 2016 regular season, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger tied with Packers QB Aaron Rodgers for the most deep passes (20+ *extended air yards) in the league with 86. With 13 deep touchdowns on the season, Roethlisberger led the league's quarterbacks in that category. Although Tom Brady has only half the number of deep pass attempts, he has a better passer rating on those attempts with 116.8, compared to Roethlisberger's 108.4.

During the last two matchups between Pittsburgh and New England (2015 regular season opener and 2016 Week 7), Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler has primarily covered Antonio Brown. In Week 7, Butler allowed all 7 of Brown's catches (on 11 targets) for 106 yards. After allowing a touchdown in last season's contest, this time Butler notched an interception when covering Brown in a game that Steelers backup QB Landry Jones started.

Patriots WR Julian Edelman started off the season slow for the New England Patriots, but emerged Tom Brady's favorite target beginning in Week 11 after the injury to TE Rob Gronkowski sidelined him for the rest of the season. Since then, Edelman led wide receivers from the slot with 30 receptions.
Back in Week 7 against Pittsburgh, Edelman was especially dangerous from the slot. He had 9 catches on 10 targets for 60 yards overall, with all but one reception (for 6 yards) coming from the slot.
