Waiver Wire
2018 Week 10 fantasy football waiver-wire targets
Pending Monday Night Football, Week 9 is nearly in the books. We're on to double-digit weeks! After a fairly slow month of waiver adds, this is a white-hot week to spend your FAAB budget as everyone is pushing for a spot in the fantasy playoffs. Let's get to it:

New coach, new usage. With offensive coordinator Todd Haley out of Cleveland, Johnson's criminal underutilization came to a screeching halt in Week 9 against Kansas City. He only saw one carry, but he tied a season-high in routes run (29) and set a new high in targets (9). With new-OC Freddie Kitchens calling the shots, Johnson rewarded his born again usage with 9/78/2 receiving. Now, Johnson is back on the PPR fantasy radar just in time for a Week 10 date with Atlanta. The Falcons have allowed the most receptions to running backs for four-straight seasons.

MVS has capitalized on the Packers musical chairs at receiver with Geronimo Allison (hamstring, groin) and Randall Cobb (hamstring) both banged up over the last month. Over his last four games, Valdes-Scantling has 7/68/1, 3/103, 2/45/1, and 3/101. In this span, MVS has tallied 6.8 targets per game and has played over 80 percent of Packers snaps in 3-of-4. Attached to perhaps the league's most efficient QB ever, Valdes-Scantling needs to be on fantasy rosters in all league formats.

In Week 8, Jack Doyle (hip) returned to rip Oakland's completely-tanked defense for 6/70/1 (on seven targets). Most surprisingly, Doyle played 75 percent of Colts' snaps in Week 8. Eric Ebron only played 18 percent of Colts snaps and has now been on the field for fewer than 50 percent of team snaps in all three games with Doyle active this year (Weeks 1-2, 8). Doyle is out-targeting Ebron 22 to 11 in this span. In fact, Doyle's 19 percent target share in his three appearances this year is just behind T.Y. Hilton (21 percent) for the team lead. Indy comes out of their Week 9 for three-straight home games (Jacksonville, Tennessee, and Miami).

After missing the first two months of the season (foot), McGuire returned in Week 9 to lead the Jets backfield in snap rate (55 percent) right off the jump. It's obviously a great sign. McGuire turned his ten touches into 63 yards from scrimmage and easily dusted Isaiah Crowell in routes run (27 to 9), per PFF. The Jets certainly have plenty of opportunity available in their pass-catching corps and sorely need a receiving weapon out of the backfield now that Bilal Powell (neck) is on injured-reserve.

A.J. Green (foot) may miss "some time," perhaps giving John Ross the opportunity he needs to finally breakout. Ross has been far from healthy dating back to his college days and missed Week 8 with a groin injury, but Green's extended absence would obviously open up a gaping hole in the Bengals pass attack. Green (26 percent) leads the Bengals in target share with Tyler Boyd (23 percent) and Joe Mixon (14 percent) maintaining sizable chunks of opportunity. Ross hasn't seen enough targets to make a difference, yet. Ross is an upside stash for the (seemingly) 116th time in his career.

Fresh off a three-week recovery (knee), Theo Riddick returned in Week 9 to play on 56 percent of Lions snaps -- tying Kerryon Johnson for the team lead in RB snaps. Riddick also tied Marvin Jones for the team-lead in targets (eight) and ran more pass routes than Kerryon (24 to 17; per Next Gen Stats). Interestingly, Riddick aligned as a receiver (out wide or in the slot) on 33 percent of his snaps in Week 9, per PFF's charts. In an attempt to replace Golden Tate's slot production, Detroit will continue to use Riddick as their "extension of the run game" via short passing routes. With a new role in place and a clean bill of health, Riddick is back on the FLEX PPR radar in all league types.

Herndon's snap rate shot back up in Week 9, as he set a four-week high in snaps (64 percent) and routes run. Herndon didn't get into the box for his fourth-straight game, but he now has 60 yards and/or a TD in Weeks 6-9. New York's pass-catching group is wide open while Herndon is quickly developing a rapport with Sam Darnold. Per Next Gen Stats, Darnold has earned a 144.5 passer rating when throwing to Herndon this year. That's easily best on the team.

Coutee missed Weeks 8-9 with a pulled hammy and now gets a Week 10 bye to rest his legs. Coutee made his debut in Week 4 and got off to a hot-start with two solid fantasy outings (11/109, 6/51/1), was slowed by Buffalo (3/33), and then hurt his hamstring in Week 7 against Jacksonville. It's been a tough month for the rookie, but Coutee is still a WR4/5 stash now that Will Fuller is out for the rest of the season. Demaryius Thomas will undoubtedly compete for targets, but Coutee's 4.43 wheels gives him the inside track to take over for some of Fuller's deep targets. The Texans rest of season schedule is ripe for the picking (Weeks 11-16): Washington, Tennessee, Cleveland, Indianapolis, New York Jets, and Philadelphia.

While Wendell Smallwood (17/56) and Corey Clement (12/12) plodded along in Weeks 7-8, Adams easily leads the Eagles in rushing output (13/78), yards after contact, and missed tackles forced (per PFF) over this span. Adams is far from a fantasy starter yet, but he is certainly a back to perhaps stash if you don't have many pertinent bye week needs. Philly returns in Week 10 to face Dallas at home.
