Waiver Wire
2018 Week 17 fantasy football waiver-wire targets
Week 17 fantasy finals are always a little bizarre and this season will be no different. The Saints and Cowboys have clinched spots and can not further their playoff standing, so they will almost assuredly rest starters. What's more, Todd Gurley (knee) is likely to sit again. The Seahawks' game at home against the Cardinals is meaningless after their win over the Chiefs, too. Hopefully, all of the big jelly beans in your fantasy leagues have been counted and distributed at this point. If not, here's the Week 17 wire:

The most obvious Week 17 add. Without Todd Gurley (knee) last week, Anderson promptly ripped the Cardinals for 20/167/1 on the ground while playing on 75 percent of Rams' snaps. San Francisco has played competitive ball all season long despite being essentially eliminated from the playoffs after Jimmy Garoppolo's (knee) injury, but the Rams should take care of business at home versus the 'Niners in the season finale.

After handling 381 touches in 15 games this season, Ezekiel Elliott will not play in the Cowboys Week 17 game against the Giants. Even though it is a rivalry game, the contest is completely meaningless for Dallas' playoff positioning and Zeke will wisely get a week off. Rod Smith is in line for a big workload against New York.

Matt Breida injured his ankle yet again in the 'Niners Week 16 loss against the Bears, almost positively ending his year. Breida has been a warrior all season long -- he's battled through multiple ankle issues, a separated shoulder, and a sprained knee -- but San Francisco would be wise to let Breida rest up for 2019. After Breida exited early last week, Jeff Wilson came in and promptly played on 69 percent of team snaps and handled 13 touches. The 49ers get the Rams on the road to wrap their season.

Averaging 81.7 YPG on 23.3 yards per reception over the last six weeks, Robert Foster is in a home-run matchup in Week 17 against the destitute Dolphins. While Foster is a big play waiting to happen with Josh Allen, the rookie duo should have plenty of chances to carve up Miami in their season finale. Over the full year, only Oakland has allowed more 20-plus yard completions than Miami. Foster has been under-owned in NFL.com fantasy leagues since breaking out.

Lamar Miller (ankle) missed last week while D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) finally made his debut. However, outside of Deshaun Watson, Texans rush offense was a complete train wreck against the Eagles in Week 16. Alfred Blue started, but only saw four carries. Foreman, on the other hand, saw 7 carries... and managed -1 yard rushing. Yikes. Still, even in Week 17, we follow usage. After not suiting up for well over a year, Foreman played on 48 percent of team snaps in his 2018 debut. He'll be on the FLEX radar next against the Jags' if Houston elects to rest Lamar Miller again.

It's happening again! Positive touchdown regression hit hard in Foles' favor last week, as the Eagles held off the Texans to keep their playoff hopes alive. Despite forcing an INT over the middle of the field and losing a fumble, Foles was fantastic against the Texans -- carving Houston for 471 yards and four scores on 49 attempts. The Eagles are very alive in the playoff hunt and need a win over the Redskins in Week 17 to perhaps get in as the No. 6 seed. After playing poorly in the season opener against Atlanta, Foles has averaged a fantastic 8.4 YPA in place of Carson Wentz (knee, back) over his last three spot starts.

What is dead may never die. After disappearing over the Packers last five games (7/61 receiving), 'MVS' sprang back to life for 5/75 on nine targets while Randall Cobb (concussion) missed Week 16 against the Jets. Green Bay is drawing dead towards the playoffs and it's unclear if Aaron Rodgers will start again in a meaningless game against the Lions in their season finale, but Valdes-Scantling will be on the WR3/4 radar if so. Valdes-Scantling has averaged over just 10 PPR points per game when Cobb has missed time this season.
