Waiver Wire
2018 Week 9 fantasy football waiver-wire targets
As always, waiver wire's should be mostly thin by this time of the year. Luckily, the last two weeks have been light on the injury front, further slowing down the influx of solid adds. Still, there are nine potential moves to make ahead of Week 9. Let's get to it.

Back in time to face the tanking Raiders, Jack Doyle (hip) returned to paste Oakland's defense for 6/70/1 (on seven targets). Most surprisingly, Doyle returned to play 75 percent of Colts' snaps in Week 8. Eric Ebron only played 18 percent of Colts snaps, but bailed out fantasy managers with a 20-yard contested catch touchdown. Ebron has now played fewer than 50 percent of team snaps in all three games with Doyle active this year (Weeks 1-2, 8). Doyle is out-targeting Ebron 22 to 11 in this span. Be aggressive with your FAAB bids on Doyle. After their Week 9 bye, Indy returns home for three-straight games (Jacksonville, Tennessee, and Miami).

As expected, Richard is going to be a low-end RB2/FLEX play in PPR leagues with Marshawn Lynch (groin) on the shelf. Martin out-snapped Richard by a thin margin (25 to 21) in Beastmode's first absence, but Richard had the edge in routes run per Next Gen Stats (15 to 7). Richard received eight targets (leading the team), catching all of them for 50 yards. If you're in a full-point per reception league and Richard is available, remedy that as soon as possible.

To his credit, Doug Martin was solid in Week 8 vs. the Colts, parlaying his 13 carries into 72 scoreless rushing yards. Martin only ran seven routes, but he caught his two targets and converted them into 17 yards. Like Richard, Martin will have FLEX appeal down the stretch with Marshawn Lynch out. Martin's 15 touches, 89 yards from scrimmage, and 55 percent snap rate in the Raiders Week 8 loss is not something we can stick our noses up at. Oakland catches San Francisco on Thursday Night football next.

Who doesn't love a breakout party? In Week 8, D.J. Moore set a season-high in snaps (70 percent), routes run (26), and targets (6). Moore rewarded the Panthers increased usage with 5/90 receiving and 2/39 rushing against Baltimore's usually stout secondary. Now, Moore has a potential fantasy blow-up spot against Tampa Bay's "defense" in Week 9. With Doug Martin and Jalen Richard more than likely added in over half of fantasy leagues by now, Moore is the No. 2 waiver add ahead of Week 9.

With Allen Robinson limited in Week 7 and sidelined in Week 8 (groin), rookie Anthony Miller has seen seven targets in back-to-back games. Granted, Miller hasn't stuffed the stat-sheet (2/35, 3/37/1), but we chase usage in fantasy football. Miller's 67 pass routes run trails only Trey Burton (75) for the Bears team lead over the last two weeks. Miller is an intriguing WR5 stash while Robinson's health is in question.

While he did not play in Week 6, Adams' snap rate increased from 12 percent in Week 7 to 29 percent in the Eagles Week 8 win in London. Now, Adams is far from a fantasy starter yet. But, the undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame has flashed on his limited sample of work over the last two weeks. Whereas Wendell Smallwood (17/56) and Corey Clement (12/12) have plodded along in Weeks 7-8, Adams easily leads the Eagles in rushing output (13/78), yards after contact, and missed tackles forced (per PFF) over this span. Adams is a back to perhaps stash if you don't have many pertinent bye week needs. Philly returns in Week 10 to face Dallas at home.

Cooper Kupp (knee) missed his second-straight game in Week 8, elevating Josh Reynolds to a full-time role again. Over the last two weeks, Reynolds has played on 85 percent of Rams' snaps and turned his six total targets into 4/61/2 receiving. Los Angeles faces a New Orleans secondary that was just pasted by Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen next. Reynolds will remain on the high-WR4 radar for as long as Kupp remains out.

Making his 2018 debut after a groin injury claimed the first seven games of his season, Ed Dickson dropped 2/52/1 (on two targets) in Week 8 versus Detroit. However, there is some bad news. Dickson only played on 32 percent of Seattle's snaps and ran just seven pass routes in his first game of the season. Nick Vannett remained involved, playing 50 percent of 'Hawks snaps and seeing three targets. Still, at fantasy's thinnest position, Dickson merits Week 9 streamer appeal with six more teams on bye (Cardinals, Bengals, Colts, Jaguars, Giants, and Eagles). Seattle returns home to face the L.A. Chargers in Week 9.

Even though he's only averaging 53 percent of team snaps, Herndon has scored in three-straight games and now leads all Jets receivers in passer rating when targeted by Sam Darnold (134.5). However, Herndon shouldn't merit starter appeal in 10- or 12-team leagues until his usage comes up as he's only run a pass route on 31 percent of Darnold's dropbacks over the last three weeks. To be fair, Herndon does have TE2 streaming appeal in Week 9. The Jets get a Dolphins side that allowed 5/56/2 to Lions TEs in Week 7 and were hit for 4/29/2 by Texans' TE Jordan Thomas in Week 8.
