Waiver Wire
Fantasy Waiver Wire: Week 8
The waiver wire is one of the most important keys to finding success in the world of fantasy football. Each week, I'll offer up 10 players you need to target off the free-agent market as you look to reach your ultimate goal -- winning a league championship! And if you play in a deeper, or highly competitive league and all 10 of these players are already owned, be sure to check out our weekly deep dive waiver wire targets for some high upside players to aim for heading into Week 8.

If there was any doubt about it before, there isn't one now ... McKinnon is the Minnesota running back to own in fantasy leagues. He was impressive in Week 7, rushing for 103 yards on 19 carries while also catching two passes in a loss to the Buffalo Bills. Next on the schedule is a game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who field one of the NFL's worst defenses. Go ahead and grab McKinnon now if you're able.

Zac Stacy appears to be in the doghouse in St. Louis, as he didn't see a single touch in a huge win over the Seattle Seahawks. Instead, it was Mason who led the team in backfield looks (18) and rushing yards (85). While Benny Cunningham (seven touches) was also involved, it looks like coach Jeff Fisher is going to lean on the rookie as his first option in the ground attack. Add the Auburn product this week.

When the Seahawks decided to trade Percy Harvin to the New York Jets, Baldwin's value saw a nice kickstart. That was evident in Week 7, when he hauled in seven passes for 123 yards with one touchdown (18.30 points) in a loss to the St. Louis Rams. The potential is there for Baldwin to be a regular No. 3 fantasy wideout the rest of the season, so get him now. He has a favorable matchup in Carolina up next.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden decided to bench turnover-prone quarterback Kirk Cousins in Week 7, so there's little doubt that Griffin III will regain his starting role once he's back from an injured ankle. While there is no guarantee that he will return in time for a Week 8 matchup in Dallas, fantasy owners in need at the quarterback position would be wise to get ahead of the curve and put in a claim for RGIII now.

The Bills lost both Fred Jackson (groin) and C.J. Spiller (collarbone) in Week 7, leaving Dixon and Bryce Brown to see more work in the backfield moving forward. I would side with Dixon off the waiver wire, though, as he looked good in limited time as Buffalo's top runner against the Minnesota Vikings. Dixon could be a flex starter this week versus a Jets run defense that has been gashed the last two weeks.

You might not know it, but Tannehill has been one of the hottest fantasy quarterbacks in the league in recent weeks. In his last three games, he's scored 18-plus fantasy points ... including a 23.88-point performance against the Chicago Bears. Next on the schedule is a date with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have not been formidable against opposing signal-callers this season. He'll be a definite sleeper pick.

With Victor Cruz (knee) out for the remainder of the season, Beckham will have a shot at seeing far more targets in the pass attack from Eli Manning. He's flashed at times since returning from an injured hamstring, scoring three touchdowns and 10-plus fantasy points in two of his first three games. The G-Men are on a bye in Week 8, so the talented rookie is more of an add-and-stash wideout in fantasy leagues.

First it was Toby Gerhart. Then it was Storm Johnson. Now it looks like Robinson is the backfield flavor of the week in Jacksonville. Shoelace looked the best of the trio, though, as he rushed for 127 yards on 22 carries against the Cleveland Browns. Now, it's notable that their run defense isn't so hot, but the fact that Robinson saw most of the carries makes him well worth a look if you're in need of a runner.

LaFell has been a bigger part of the Patriots' pass attack in recent weeks, posting four or more catches in three of his last four games. In two of those contests, he's scored double-digit fantasy points (three touchdowns). While he hasn't been consistent, LaFell has been the best fantasy wideout for New England in recent games and should now be owned in most leagues. The Pats have a nice matchup versus the Bears coming up.

Fantasy owners in deeper leagues should take a look at Adams, who has seen more work in the Packers' pass attack in recent weeks. In fact, he's scored a touchdown in two of his last three games. Adam has also scored seven or more fantasy points in all three of those contests. While he won't light the world on fire behind studs like Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, the rookie is worth a deep-league roster spot.
